The government has announced the appointment of Ms. Sheila Azuntaba as the new Deputy Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), bringing on board a seasoned investment banker and accomplished entrepreneur effective March 26, 2025.

CBG is an indigenous universal bank licensed by Bank of Ghana under the Specialised Deposit–Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).

Ms. Azuntaba boasts a rich and diverse career in banking and finance, having held senior roles across Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. Notably, she served as Assistant Vice President at Citigroup’s Global Transaction Services Unit in Nigeria, where she played a critical role in product development, marketing, and sales strategies.

Her experience extends across both investment and commercial banking, where she has successfully managed large financial portfolios and spearheaded key business initiatives. She is also widely recognised for her advocacy for financial inclusion, especially for women.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Azuntaba was crowned Miss Ghana in 1996, a title she has since used to inspire and mentor young women in leadership and business.

She holds an MBA in Finance from the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland, and a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of Westminster in London.

Her appointment comes as CBG aims to strengthen its financial stability and operational efficiency. Ms. Azuntaba is expected to play a key role in driving the bank’s long-term growth agenda.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has called on all stakeholders to support Ms. Azuntaba and the new executive leadership team as they assume their roles in steering one of Ghana’s key financial institutions into its next phase.
