The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has responded to the Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) regarding unpaid arrears, stating that reimbursements have already begun.

The NHIA reiterated its commitment to settling the payments, noting that disbursements to clear all arrears commenced on Friday, April 4, 2025.

“The NHIA acknowledges the concerns raised by our valued service providers and wishes to reiterate our unwavering commitment to the timely reimbursement of claims. As communicated in our earlier press statement, modalities for the payment of outstanding claims have been fully concluded, and disbursement commenced yesterday, Friday, April 4, 2025,” the Authority stated in a press release issued on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders, particularly the PHFAoG and its members, that the Authority is in the process of effecting additional payments to clear all outstanding vetted claims, which should reflect in the accounts of providers in the coming days. We remain dedicated to strengthening partnerships with all service providers while ensuring the sustainability of the NHIS,” the statement added.

The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana (PHFAoG) had earlier announced the suspension of services for National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cardholders.

In a statement issued on Friday, April 4, 2025 PHFAoG stated that the NHIA owes payments for services rendered over the past eight months, dating back to September 2024.
