The Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has instructed the Ashanti Regional Police Command to take swift action against ‘Tinker Island,’ a notorious drug den in Kumasi.

This move, he said, would tackle the growing issue of drug trafficking and abuse in the area.

“Tinker Island has become a hub for drug distribution, attracting dealers and users from various parts of the city, and contributing to the rise in drug-related crime and violence in Kumasi,” he indicated.

According to a post by JoyFM on X, he expressed concerns over the den’s illegal activities, which have been ongoing despite previous attempts to clear the area.

Muntaka directed the Regional Police Command to eradicate the den within the next six months, the report added.
