Interior minister Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with Muslim leaders and Zongo Chiefs in Kumasi to strengthen peace and security in the Ashanti Region.
He noted that the collaboration between the government and religious leaders played a crucial role in advancing national development.
Speaking at a sensitization workshop on peace promotion, social cohesion, and security concerns, Mohammed-Mubarak acknowledged the rising threat of drug abuse in Ghana.
He called on Muslim leaders to work with the government to address its root causes within communities.
The minister also stressed the need to tackle vigilantism, land guard activities, chieftaincy disputes, and other national security challenges.
He expressed confidence that unity would help overcome these issues and enhance peace and social cohesion in Kumasi and beyond.
The workshop brought together various groups, including the Ghana Muslim Mission, Zongo Traditional Council Palace, Ahli Sunnah, Council of Zongo Chiefs, and Council of Ulama.
