Ghana has achieved a groundbreaking victory at the African Union (AU) elections in Addis Ababa, with all three of its candidates securing wins. Announcing the news, Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described the achievement as a historic moment for the country.

Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto has been elected to the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL), while Lawyer Kwami Edem Senanu successfully retained his seat on the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC). Their victories come a day after Ambassador Amma A. Twum-Amoah was overwhelmingly elected as Commissioner.

Minister Ablakwa celebrated the achievement, praising the successful candidates, the campaign team, Ghana’s Mission in Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and President John Dramani Mahama for their collective efforts in securing this success.

“Ghana stands out as the only country to have accomplished this. The black star continues to shine! For God and Country,” he stated.

These wins further solidify Ghana’s leadership within the AU, as the elected officials are expected to play key roles in shaping legal, diplomatic, and anti-corruption policies across the continent.
