Ahafo Ano North constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have vehemently denounced allegations linking them and District Chief Executive (DCE) aspirant Mr. Richmond Boakye Agyeman to illegal mining (galamsey) activities, branding the claims as an “evil attempt” to tarnish their reputations.

Addressing the press in Tepa, the executives categorically refuted claims made by a group calling themselves the “Concerned NDC Youth.”

Hon. Francis Akakpo Eliklim, the NDC Communication Officer for the constituency, led the charge, dismissing the allegations as unfounded, baseless, and purely malicious.

He emphasized that the executives are dedicated to upholding the values and principles of the NDC and would never engage in unlawful activities such as galamsey.

“We utterly reject these vile allegations,” Hon. Eliklim stated. “They are a deliberate attempt by some greedy individuals, driven by personal ambition, to damage the reputation of the party and its leaders in Ahafo Ano North.”

He urged the public and party supporters to completely disregard the accusations, emphasizing their falsity.

Addressing the claims directly, Hon. Eliklim stated unequivocally, “It is simply not true that any of the NDC executives in Ahafo Ano North are involved in galamsey. Everyone must reject this lie.”

He further clarified his own professional background, stating that he is a sales manager at a cocoa-buying company and also a farmer.

“Each executive pursues their own legitimate work, and these allegations should be dismissed out of hand,” he added.

Regarding Mr. Boakye Agyeman, Hon. Eliklim fiercely defended his character, stating that all galamsey allegations against him were false.

He explained that Mr. Agyeman is a credible teacher who supports his businesses for a living, adding that he deals in mattresses, among other legitimate ventures.

Furthermore, Hon. Eliklim pointed out that the only mining site within the community is a community mining project established by the previous Nana Addo-led NPP government, further undermining the credibility of the allegations.

He underscored the executives’ unwavering support for Mr. Agyeman’s bid to become DCE, reiterating their belief in his leadership qualities, vision, and dedication to the progress of Ahafo Ano North.

The press conference served as a platform for the NDC constituency executives to forcefully deny the allegations, defend their integrity, and reaffirm their commitment to serving the people of Ahafo Ano North through lawful and ethical means.

They vowed to continue focusing on advancing the party’s agenda and ensuring the well-being of the community, despite what they view as a deliberate smear campaign.
