Ghanaian singer, Cina Soul
Max TV has issued an apology to Ghanaian singer Cina Soul after their guest, Big Akwes, made derogatory comments about her body and outfit choice during their morning show on Monday, March 31, 2025.
The incident, which went viral on social media on April 1, 2025, saw Big Akwes and another guest body-shaming the singer in an attempt to express their disgust at what they described as her ‘skimpy and revealing’ outfit, while the presenter looked on.
Big Akwes’ comments sparked public outrage, with many condemning both the television station and the guests for allowing such an attack on Cina Soul’s character.
The female presenter was also criticised for what many described as condoning the attack on a fellow woman.
Cina Soul’s colleagues, including Efya, Sista Afia, Sefa, and many others, expressed disapproval after excerpts of a video capturing the moment the singer was ‘harassed’ went viral.
But in response to the controversy, the host of Max Morning Show, Akosua Takyiwaa, has apologised on behalf of the station.
She rendered the apology on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, acknowledging that the remarks made against the singer were inappropriate.
“On Monday, I discussed an entertainment story with my guest, Big Akwes, who made some remarks that were unpleasant to the Ghanaian public. On behalf of Imax Media management, I, the entire Imax team, and Big Akwes, I sincerely apologise for how we handled the story,” she stated.
She further directed the apology to Cina Soul, admitting that the conversation had crossed the line by becoming personal and unfairly attacking her.
“Cina Soul, we are truly sorry for crossing the line and making it personal by attacking your personality” she added.
