The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League witnessed significant changes in the standings after two critical fixtures were played on Monday, April 1st.

Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama both secured vital victories, impacting the title race and positioning in the league table.

Gold Stars solidified their place at the top of the league standings with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Heart of Lions courties of Kumi Attah and Gideon Anaba goals against Nana Oppong’s. The win pushes them to 44 points from 24 matches, extending their lead over second-placed Kotoko, who remain at 42 points with a game in hand. Gold Stars have now won 12 games, drawn 8, and lost only 4, reinforcing their championship ambitions. Heart of Lions, despite the loss, remain third with 40 points but risk falling behind as the title race heats up.

Meanwhile, Medeama also picked up a crucial win, defeating Basake Holy Stars 2-1. This victory moved them to 38 points, securing fourth place and keeping them in contention for a top finish. Basake Holy Stars, on the other hand, remain in a precarious position, sitting in 13th place with 27 points, just a few above the relegation zone.

The competition remains intense in the top half of the table, with teams like Hearts of Oak, Nations FC, and Bechem United closely trailing the leaders. Hearts of Oak, currently in fifth place with 37 points, will look to capitalize on any slip-ups from the top four to boost their own title aspirations.

At the bottom of the table, Legon Cities FC, Nsoatreman FC, and Accra Lions FC continue to struggle, with all three teams fighting to avoid relegation. Accra Lions, positioned last with only 20 points, will need a significant turnaround in the upcoming matches to escape the drop.

As the season progresses, every match carries weight, and the battle for the championship, as well as relegation survival, remains wide open.
