Ghanaian footballer Michael Appiah has suffered a long-term injury, forcing him to miss the entire Major League Soccer (MLS) season with Inter Miami CF. The talented youngster, drafted in December 2024 from Florida International University, had been eager to start his professional career alongside Lionel Messi.
Inter Miami, currently leading the Eastern Conference, had high hopes for Appiah after his impressive college performances. Unfortunately, an injury has sidelined him, delaying his anticipated debut.
Before his injury, Appiah trained with football icons Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. He had been looking forward to a promising campaign after showcasing his skills at the college level. The setback means he will now focus on recovery and a future return to the pitch.
Appiah was selected as the 82nd pick in the MLS Super Draft, becoming the second Ghanaian from Florida International University to join the league after Stephen Afrifa. The Sunyani-born player had a stellar college career, appearing in 18 matches, starting 11, and scoring four goals in 2024.
While his debut is on hold, Appiah remains optimistic. His resilience and dedication suggest he will return stronger, determined to fulfill his dream of playing at the highest level.
