Liverpool will be back in action in two days time when they face rivals Everton at Anfield on April 2. The Reds currently sit 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games remaining and will be hoping to wrap up the title as soon as possible.

Having been knocked out of the Champions League and lost the Carabao Cup final before the international break, the league is now Liverpool’s sole focus and big games against Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal will follow their clash with Everton.

It will be a remarkable triumph if Arne Slot can win the league in his first season in charge and Liverpool are already looking to the future, with plenty of moves expected in the upcoming summer transfer window.

With all that in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at some of the biggest stories and rumours around Anfield ahead of their Premier League return.

Double injury boost

Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson are expected to be fit for the Merseyside derby, despite being forced to return early from international duty.

Gravenberch was released by the Netherlands as a precaution, while Alisson picked up a concussion in Brazil’s 2-1 win over Colombia. However, the pair should both be able to feature against Everton with Alisson now cleared to resume training.

Liverpool will be short of options at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez all sidelined, while Tyler Morton remains out of action with a shoulder injury.

Cryptic Trent update

Mohamed Salah shared a clip of Alexander-Arnold on his Instagram story following a week of fervent speculation about the defender’s future.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season and Salah, who is also out of contract in the summer, prompted more speculation with his post.

In the clip, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai can be seen in conversation before the camera pans to Alexander-Arnold. The clip does not include any audio.

Frimpong latest

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong has been heavily linked with a potential move to Anfield as a replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

However, Mirror Football understands that Liverpool are yet to make contact over a transfer despite reports to the contrary. Frimpong is among the players being monitored by Liverpool’s recruitment team and the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked.

Frimpong has starred for Leverkusen since joining from Celtic in 2021 and the 24-year-old Dutch international was integral as Xabi Alonso’s side won their first ever Bundesliga title last season.
