Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has hinted that Tariq Lamptey could return before the end of the season.

The Ghana international missed the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar after sustaining an injury.

He also missed the 2-2 draw against Manchester City, having sat out the previous game against Fulham due to suspension.

Speaking ahead of the Seagulls’ FA Cup quarterfinal game against Nottingham Forest, the German manager said Lamptey could return to action before the season concludes.

“Tariq will be out for a longer time—he has an ankle injury,” Hürzeler said.

“I think there’s a chance that we will see him back before the end of the season. He is a good healer, I have great trust in my medical staff and in Tariq’s mindset to be back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

“There’s a chance that he will be back in several weeks,” he added.

Despite his absence, the Black Stars beat Chad 5-0 and Madagascar 3-0, putting themselves in pole position to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup from Group I.
