Johnnie Hughes Reveals What Is Happening To His Show At TV3

Popular broadcaster and host of Johnnie’s Bite on 3FM and TV3, Johnnie Hughes, has taken to social media to express his thoughts on how some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have changed their stance on his show. In a recent Facebook post, Hughes pointed out the irony of how his critics, who once dismissed his program as irrelevant, are now eager for him to speak against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

Hughes stated that some individuals who previously ridiculed Johnnie’s Bite, calling it a useless show, were actually secretly watching it while publicly dismissing it to please their party. According to him, these same people, now in opposition, are suddenly paying close attention to his program, hoping that he will criticize President John Mahama’s administration in the same way he criticized the previous NPP government.

In his Facebook post on Saturday, 29th March, 2025, Hughes sarcastically wrote, “So, #JohnniesBite that some people claimed was a useless programme that nobody watches, is now so important that those same people who rubbished it publicly (while they secretly watched) to please whoever, are eager to watch to hear me say what they dictate? VAR catch some pipos? Lol.”

He further made an analogy, comparing such individuals to a “self-styled vegetarian” who claims not to consume meat but still enjoys the soup cooked with it. His remark appeared to highlight the hypocrisy of some NPP supporters who once criticized him but now expect him to serve their interests.

During the NPP administration, Hughes was vocal about various governance issues and often held government officials accountable for their actions. His bold approach earned him criticism from NPP supporters, who accused him of being biased against their government. However, with the NDC now in power, some of these same individuals are urging him to shift his attention to the current administration..

The broadcaster’s reaction suggests that he remains independent in his commentary, refusing to be swayed by political affiliations. As Ghana’s political landscape continues to evolve, Hughes’ Johnnie’s Bite is likely to remain a platform for holding leaders accountable, regardless of which party is in government.
