Odeneho Nana Oppong, the former Director of Transport and Logistics at the Presidency, has claimed that he was unjustly suspended for four years without compensation, despite making considerable personal sacrifices to support President Nana Akufo-Addo’s political campaign.

In a video posted on Facebook, Oppong shared his commitment to Akufo-Addo’s presidential campaign, revealing that he even sold his personal assets to help fund the effort. He also mentioned that during the election season, he occasionally donned attire similar to that of Akufo-Addo and addressed crowds on the President’s behalf while the latter rested in his vehicle.

“I campaigned passionately for Akufo-Addo, selling my belongings to aid his campaign. At times, I had to mimic his style and speak to the public while he was asleep in his car,” he stated.

Despite his unwavering support, Oppong reported that he was subsequently suspended from his role without any formal justification. He noted that he was advised to distance himself from Akufo-Addo at that time but chose to remain loyal, a decision he now regrets.

“I faced a four-year suspension without pay. I was warned against following President Akufo-Addo, but I ignored the advice. Now, I understand,” he expressed.

The former transport director did not specify who was responsible for his suspension or the reasons behind it. The former president has not yet addressed these allegations.

Oppong’s remarks have ignited conversations regarding the treatment of political supporters within government, with many calling for transparency regarding the details of his suspension.
