High-flying Golden Kick FC have advanced to the semi-final of the MTN FA Cup with a penalty shootouts win over Karela United after a goalless draw in regulation time.
After shockingly evicting grand masters Hearts of Oak in the last round, the lower-division side exhibited they did that as a result of being a very good side and it wasn’t any mere formality.
Golden Kick FC created series of opportunities with two coming in the first half but Ishmael Eshun failed to make them count as it ended goalless at half-time
In the second half, Karela United bounced back stronger and began to make incursions but the well-resolute backline of Golden Kick led by captain Roland Grippman were always up to the task to tidy up their zone.
The Blue-Yellows created series of opportunities in the second half but fired wide and nearly got punished in the dying embers but Abdulai Adamu’s late ball went off the crossbar.
It finished a goalless draw after full time and Golden Kicks won 5-3 on penalties subsequently thanks to series of expertly penalties taken and a huge stop from goalkeeper Kelvin Kofi Saaba.
They will face another first division side Attram de Visser Academy in the semi final.
