Otto Addo Visits Hometown in Akropong, Meets Paramount Chief of Akuapem Traditional Area

Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, made a heartfelt homecoming to Akropong in the Eastern Region, where he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III. The visit, which took place on Tuesday, was a blend of cultural homage and community engagement as the coach reconnected with his roots ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers.  

According To Yen, Dressed in traditional kente cloth, Addo was warmly received by the chief and elders at the Akropong Palace. The meeting highlighted mutual respect, with the coach expressing gratitude for the community’s support throughout his career. “Returning to my roots is always humbling. The values I learned here shaped me, and I carry them into my work with the national team,” Addo said.  

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III praised Addo for his achievements and urged him to inspire young talents in Akuapem. “Your success is our pride. We hope you’ll mentor the next generation here,” the chief stated, presenting Addo with a symbolic gift to signify the traditional area’s blessings.  

The visit also included a stop at Addo’s childhood home, where he interacted with family and locals. Fans lined the streets for photos, while youth footballers showcased skills, hoping to catch the coach’s eye. Addo later visited a community sports facility, pledging support for grassroots development.  

The trip underscores Addo’s commitment to blending modern coaching with cultural identity. As Ghana prepares for upcoming matches, his homecoming has energized fans, who see it as a sign of unity and focus. “This visit reminds us that football is more than tactics—it’s about heart and heritage,” remarked a local coach.  

With World Cup qualifiers looming, Addo’s Akropong journey has struck a chord, reinforcing the bond between Ghana’s football aspirations and its rich traditions. The Black Stars boss left with a renewed mandate: to make his hometown and nation proud on the global stage.
