Accra, Ghana – Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak have been hit with a GH₵20,000 fine by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee following breaches of matchday security regulations.
The Phobians were found culpable of allowing unauthorized individuals, identified as supporters, access to the designated safe zone during a recent league fixture. This action, according to the GFA, compromised the security protocols put in place for matchdays and brought the game into disrepute.
Out of the total fine, GH₵10,000 has been suspended for the remainder of the current football season. This suspension serves as a warning to the club, indicating that any further breaches of security regulations will result in the immediate activation of the suspended portion of the fine, in addition to any new sanctions imposed.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision underscores the association’s commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of football matches across the country. Allowing unaccredited individuals into restricted areas poses significant risks to both players, officials, and the smooth conduct of the game.
This sanction will undoubtedly serve as a wake-up call for Hearts of Oak management to tighten their security measures and ensure strict adherence to the GFA’s regulations at all future matches. Failure to do so could result in further financial penalties and potentially other disciplinary actions.
Hearts of Oak are yet to officially comment on the GFA’s decision. However, fans and football pundits alike will be keenly watching how the club responds to this setback and the measures they implement to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
