Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed recent media reports claiming that President John Dramani Mahama has directed the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to investigate the official travels of former President Nana Akufo-Addo during his tenure.
According to the reports, the alleged directive from the presidency was aimed at ensuring transparency and detecting any possible corruption in the previous government.
However, in a social media post on March 28, 2025, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stated, “For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidency has not given any order to the NIB to look into President Akufo-Addo’s travels.”
Former President Akufo-Addo served a full eight-year term in office before handing over the flagbearership of his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who won the party’s presidential primaries but lost the 2024 elections.
