The Parliament of Ghana is expected to pass the Goldbod Bill into law, barring any unforeseen hitches.

According to the Acting Managing Director of PMMC, Sammy Gyamfi, a lot of engagements and consultations have gone into the drafting of the bill making it watertight.

Speaking to JoyNews on March 27, 2025, he stated that a lot of rigorous work has been done by Members of Parliament as far as the bill is concerned.

“for the limited period that the bill has been in Parliament, they’ve been working on it… the committee has gone through it clause by clause, at least three times.

“We are done with consideration, we have redrawn, effected amendments, the AG has done its work, we are re-laying, it will be referred to the committee before they look through… we are hoping that by next week, it will be approved for us,” he said.

The Ghana Gold Board Bill 2025 has been presented to Parliament, seeking to establish the Gold Board to regulate the buying, selling, and export of gold while generating foreign exchange for the country.

According to the government, the board will play a crucial role in formalising gold trading within the small-scale mining sector, improving traceability, and advancing efforts to secure London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) certification.

Following its introduction, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, referred the bill to the Finance and Lands and Natural Resources Committees for further review and reporting.

“Honourable members, the Ghana Gold Board Bill 2025 is presented and read for the first time and accordingly referred to the Finance Committee for consideration and reports,” he announced.
