The National Theatre of Ghana hosted a special tribute event, A Night to Remember Mawuli Yao Semevo, on March 27 to celebrate the life and legacy of the late actor.
The gathering brought together key figures from the film and theatre industry to honor Semevo’s immense contributions to the creative arts industry following his tragic passing on February 20 after a fire incident at Ridge Hospital.
Notable personalities, including David Dontoh, Akorfa Edjeani, James Gardner, Adjetey Anang, Dzifa Gomashie, Fred Amugi, and Irene Opare,and many others, attended the event at the National Theatre’s main auditorium.
The evening was filled with heartfelt tributes, reflections on his impact, and a solemn moment where candles were lit in his memory.
Throughout his career, Semevo starred in several acclaimed productions such as Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines,and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA. His work remains a source of inspiration in Ghana’s creative arts industry, and this tribute served as a fitting celebration of his enduring legacy.
