Ghana’s Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Juabuso Constituency in the Western Region, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has been elected Chairman of the Steering Committee which serves as the Board of the Western Regional Coordination Center (RCC) for Africa CDC.

The announcement was made during a meeting with the Steering Committee on March 27, 2025.

In his new role, Akandoh will lead health ministers from West African member states and partners, providing strategic guidance, oversight, and support to the Western RCC Secretariat on public health initiatives and regional priority setting.

Additionally, he will play a key role in resource mobilisation and advocacy to strengthen regional health security.

As chairman, Akandoh will also convene and preside over board meetings, ensuring effective decision-making processes.
