Some traders affected by the recent fire outbreak in Adum, Kumasi, on March 26, 2025, hooted at the Minister of Interior, Mohammed Mubarak-Muntaka, when he attempted to support them with relief items.

The minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Asawase, visited the affected area and presented a donation of 1,500 bags of rice, 800 boxes of cooking oil, and soap.

However, his gesture was met with strong resistance, as the traders chased him away while chanting, “We don’t want rice.”

A viral video capturing the scene shows the traders singing in unison and rejecting the food items, while the minister and his entourage swiftly exited the area amid the protest.

According to the affected traders, their immediate need is financial support and business recovery assistance, not food donations.

They expressed frustration, stating that the aid provided does not align with the economic hardship they now face due to the fire, according to a report by myjoyonline.com.
