Kennedy Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central
Kennedy Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has dispatched a team to the affected area of Adum market to assess the extent of the damage and offer assistance as a result of the recent fire outbreak.
Agyapong has also called on the Ghana National Fire Service, the Police, and other relevant state security agencies to collaborate in finding lasting solutions to fire.
He expressed sorrow over the recent fire outbreak that ravaged several trading shops in Adum, the Central Business District of the Ashanti Region.
In a press release dated March 25, 2025, Agyapong conveyed his sympathy to the affected traders and families, acknowledging the devastating impact of the disaster on their livelihoods.
“Although he is currently out of the country, he has dispatched a team to the affected area to assess the situation and provide support. Upon his return, he will personally visit the market to meet with the victims and traders to discuss the way forward.
“To the steadfast people of Kejetia, Adum, Dr Mensah, and Roman Hill-do not lose hope. Ghana is strong because of its people, and together, we will rebuild. Let us unite, support one another, and work to prevent such tragedies in the future.
“May the Almighty strengthen and comfort our mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters during these trying times.”
He emphasized that in such difficult times, unity and support are essential to help those affected rebuild their businesses.
“As a businessman, I understand the immense effort required to build a business—the long hours, the sacrifices, and the hopes for a better future. To see it all taken away in an instant is painful beyond words. I feel your pain and share in your frustration,” he stated.
He stressed the urgent need for improved fire prevention systems, safer markets, and better emergency access to protect traders and safeguard the nation’s economic hubs.
“Let us unite, support one another, and work to prevent such tragedies in the future. May the Almighty strengthen and comfort our mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters during these trying times.”
