The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga North Constituency, Alhassan Mumuni, has reiterated his commitment to securing the completion of an abandoned senior high school (SHS) E-block project in the constituency to improve access to secondary education.

Mumuni noted that the project was initiated under a Government of Ghana (GoG) education expansion initiative by the erstwhile John Mahama’s administration but was halted in 2017, leaving students with limited options for secondary education.

“The school was at the foundation level when the previous National Democratic Congress administration left office, but unfortunately, for the past eight years, no work has been done.

“This has forced students to travel long distances to other communities for their education,” he said.

The MP assured constituents that he would engage the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and other relevant stakeholders to revive the project.

He emphasised the importance of having a functional SHS within the constituency, adding that his long-term vision is to ensure it becomes a fully equipped boarding school.

Mumuni also highlighted the high illiteracy rate in the constituency, which stands at 75–80 percent, as a major concern.

He pledged to work towards expanding educational infrastructure, improving teacher accommodation, and establishing an educational endowment fund to support brilliant but needy students.

He urged community members, stakeholders, and the government to work collectively to ensure that quality secondary education is accessible to all students in Salaga North.
