Wilfred Ndidi was in action for Nigeria once again as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe.

The Super Eagles were leading 1-0 thanks to Victor Osimhen’s 74th minute strike but it wasn’t enough as the visitors equalised in second half stoppage time.

The Leicester City midfielder started the game and played the full 90 minutes, days after it emerged that Galatasaray could be pondering a move for Ndidi.

But, if the reaction of Nigerian fans is anything to go by, they may reconsider any thoughts they have about buying him and Ruud van Nistelrooy won’t be too impressed either.

Nigeria fans react to Wilfred Ndidi’s performance vs Zimbabwe

Nigeria would’ve been heavy favourites to win the game and the two points dropped means they sit fourth in Group C of the African World Cup qualifying stages, behind the likes of Rwanda and Benin.

It seems that Ndidi was one of the main ones to blame for the draw, with national team fans making their feelings known.

@ohMuna_ wrote: “Wilfred Ndidi forever a passenger, immensely talented but never plays well for the national team, can’t remember him ever having a great game for Nigeria. Always pedestrian.”

@OlisaNwosu said: “Eric Chelle should be looking at long term replacements for Troost Ekong and Wilfred Ndidi. Ndidi at 28 has lost the energy he once had. Troost Ekong despite being the capo isn’t particularly the quickest when obstructing take ons.”

@topadler added: “Moving forward, Wilfred Ndidi & Troost Ekong have NO business playing for the national team.”

@thekitani stated: “Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi & Chukwueze should not be called up again.”

Wilfred Ndidi unlikely to repeat what he did when Leicester were last relegated

Ndidi is one of the few Leicester players still here from the last relegation season but it feels that it won’t be happening again.

Monaco were reportedly keen on the £15m star in January and Diego Simeone was also said to be considering bringing Ndidi to Atletico Madrid.

With the midfielder’s high wages, he will also be a contender to go in order to trim the wage bill should the Foxes return to the Championship.
