Ghanaian musician Chief One has disclosed the reason he did not submit his works for consideration in the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) 2025.

The musician explained that while he believes he is deserving of a nomination, he prefers to wait until his work reaches an undeniable level of success.

He also explained that filing nominations means that if he gets nominated, his fans would have to vote for him, and they would lose money if he doesn’t win the award in that category.

For this reason, Chief One stated that he chose not to file his nominations, as he didn’t want his fans to lose any money.

“I didn’t file. Sometimes, I don’t want my fans to lose money anyhow. I think I need to work hard. If it is loud, nobody can say anything,” he stated in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.

Chief One further emphasised that his focus is on building his brand and ensuring that when the time comes, his impact in categories like ‘Artiste of the Year’ or ‘Afrobeats Song of the Year’ will be unquestionable.

“I deserve to be there, but I really have to work hard to get to that level,” he emphasised.

In the previous Ghana Music Awards held in 2023, Chief One was nominated for the ‘Best New Artiste’ category but lost to Lasmid.
