Lawyers for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau Kwabena Adu-Boahene, have sued the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over the GH¢120 million bail demand for their client and GH¢80 million for his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng.

The case lists the Attorney General and EOCO as respondents.

According to court documents filed by their lawyers and sighted by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the legal team argues that the bail demands for their clients are excessive and intended to circumvent the constitutional limits on detention.

They further contend that their clients’ continued detention violates their human rights.

“The respondents, with a clear motive to incarcerate the applicants beyond the 48-hour period as outlined in the Constitution, have imposed burdensome and unreasonable conditions as a precondition for granting them bail.

“The justification for the bail is at the sole discretion of the respondents,” they stated.

Consequently, the High Court is expected to deliver a ruling soon on the bail request filed by the lawyers.

Kwabena Adu-Boahene has been arrested in connection with an alleged financial scandal involving a $7 million cyber defense system contract.

He is currently in detention with his wife at the National Bureau of Investigations (NIB).
