Edem and Kwabena Adu-Boahene
Renowned Ghanaian rapper Edem has expressed astonishment following revelations by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, regarding some alleged corruption involving officials from the previous government.
During a press briefing on March 24, 2025, Dr. Ayine disclosed that Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been arrested for allegedly diverting $7 million meant for a cybersecurity defence system, among others.
But the issue, which has since garnered a wave of reactions on social media, has also caught Edem’s attention.
The rapper, who has been vocal on national issues, expressed dismay on X, lamenting how life has been difficult for ordinary Ghanaians while politicians, on the other hand, are busy stealing.
“We dey suffer, we dey suffer… See the stealing you dey steal,” he wrote.
His comment resonated with many Ghanaians on social media who were equally shocked by the findings.
Meanwhile, Adu-Boahene’s legal team has responded to the accusations.
They have strongly criticised Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine for allegedly conducting what they describe as a media trial against their client instead of following due legal processes.
Samuel Atta Akyea, a legal representative of Adu-Boahene, has accused the Attorney-General of attempting to sway public opinion by prosecuting the case and potentially prejudicing the judicial process.
He has also condemned the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for detaining Adu-Boahene and his wife without granting bail or full legal representation, labelling these actions as clear violations of their constitutional rights.
