Ashanti Regional Minister directs formation of interim committee

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has directed the current management of the Kumasi City Market, Kejetia, to step aside, effective immediately.

This decision follows a series of meetings between the management, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, and the Regional Minister concerning sanitation, utility bills, and other general service issues at the market.

The Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) stated it has received numerous petitions from traders and other stakeholders regarding the market’s management.

To address these concerns, the RCC has established an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to facilitate an investigation into the veracity of the allegations against the current management.

The newly formed Interim Management Committee will be composed of:

– Prince Ofori Atta – Chairman

– Amoah Prince Nyarko – Operations Manager

– Nana Prempeh Amankwaa – Security

Dr. Amoakohene has instructed the current management of the Kumasi City Market Ltd. to provide the IMC with all necessary documents and cooperation to assist in their investigation. The Ashanti Regional Minister expressed confidence in the IMC’s ability to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry.

FORMATION OF INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Reference is made to a series of meetings between the management of Kumasi City Market (Kejetia), Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and the Hon. Regional Minister at the Regional Co-ordinating Council where various issues regarding Sanitation, Utility Bills and other general services were discussed.

The Regional Co-ordinating Council has received a number of Petitions from Traders and other Stakeholders concerning the management of the Market. The Regional Co-ordinating Council has decided that the current management of KCM should step aside to allow for the establishment of an Intern Management Committee. This decision is aimed at facilitating an investigation into the allegations to ascertain the veracity of the claims.

The Interim Management Committee shall be composed of:

1. Prince Ofori Atta-

Chairman

2. Amoah Prince Nyarko- Operations Manager

3. Nana Prempeh Amankwaa- Security

Please kindly make available all necessary documents within your custody to assist the said Committee to carry out this exercise as mandated.
