“She’s Broken All the Rules” – NPP Elders Hit Back as Adwoa Safo Fights Back

According to a report by Ghanaweb, an unexpected situation unfolded at the home of Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya.

Just as she was about to leave her house in Accra to appear on a scheduled interview with Kessben TV/FM, a surprising blockade stopped her right at her gate.

According to the host of the morning show on Kessben TV, Kwame Appiah Kubi, everything had seemed normal until her vehicle got close to her gate. That’s when the unexpected happened. “As she prepared to leave her house for the interview, Adwoa Safo got into her car”.

“However, three Land Cruisers unexpectedly blocked her way as she got closer to her gate. Senior NPP officials in these cars contended that she would not be permitted to go for the interview.”

This incident didn’t come out of nowhere. It happened shortly after Safo had openly criticized the New Patriotic Party’s actions and performance in the aftermath of the 2024 elections.

Her statements on various media platforms didn’t sit well with party leaders, prompting the NPP to refer her to its National Disciplinary Committee.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, had expressed concern that Safo’s media outbursts went against the party’s instructions and were doing more harm than good to their efforts to rebuild.

Hackman Owusu Agyemang, who chairs the NPP’s Council of Elders, also had strong words about Safo’s public comments.

He believed her behavior was not just wrong, but directly against the rules of the party. “She must cease all public statements regarding the party. She has broken all the rules, and this is unacceptable.”

Despite all of this, Adwoa Safo hasn’t backed down. Instead, she challenged the authority of those coming after her. She openly questioned the NPP General Secretary, saying, “Who is the NPP General Secretary to tell us not to speak?

When he was doing a media tour from radio stations to TV stations explaining himself after our defeat in order to gain solidarity from party executives to maintain his position, who questioned him?”

So far, the NPP has not released an official statement to confirm or deny the claim that senior members blocked her at her home that day. The tension continues to grow inside the party.
