Outspoken activist and lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has reacted to the latest government appointment of COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, popularly known as “Obaatanpa Tiwaa.”

In a Facebook post, Barker-Vormawor questioned the government’s attempt to characterize her new role as a mere reassignment rather than a fresh appointment. He suggested that the government was intentionally using language to misrepresent the reality of the situation.

“Interesting! Madam Tiwaa of #ObaatanpaTiwaaGardens been given a new Government appointment? And Why is the Government mischaracterizing a Government appointment as a reassignment?” he wrote.

Despite his skepticism, Barker-Vormawor still extended his congratulations to Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, acknowledging the importance of the position she has been given.

“Anyway, congratulations to her in her new role. Big post. Tiwaa never dies,” he added.

Madam Tiwaa, formerly the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, has been a controversial figure in Ghanaian politics and security affairs. Her tenure as CID boss was marked by high-profile cases, including the handling of the Takoradi kidnapped girls’ case, which drew sharp criticism from sections of the public.

Barker-Vormawor’s reaction seems to highlight concerns over government accountability and transparency regarding appointments. However, his post also reflects an acknowledgment of Madam Tiwaa’s resilience in navigating the corridors of power.

With her new appointment, many Ghanaians will be watching to see how she performs in her latest role. Whether this will lead to further scrutiny or a fresh start remains to be seen.
