Prominent political commentator P.K. Sarpong has raised concerns about the communication skills of Ama Pratt, the Press Secretary to Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. In a Facebook post shared on March 19, 2025, Sarpong criticized Pratt’s ability to effectively convey messages, questioning her qualifications for the role.
Sarpong, a known figure affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), pointed out that Pratt’s press statements lacked clarity and were poorly constructed. He also described her writing as repetitive, suggesting that it did not reflect the high standards expected from a press secretary to the Vice President. In his post, Sarpong directly addressed Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, urging her to either replace Pratt or take on the responsibility of reviewing the press releases herself before they are published.
Sarpong highlighted that as Vice President and a scholar, Opoku-Agyemang should not allow such substandard press statements to represent her office. He expressed concern that Pratt’s communication skills would be insufficient if the Vice President were to travel internationally, warning that important points may not be clearly conveyed.
The commentary from Sarpong comes at a time when communication strategies within the government have been under scrutiny. His criticism, which directly addresses Pratt’s performance in her role, has sparked debate among political observers. Sarpong’s call for action urges Opoku-Agyemang to ensure that the communications from her office are of the highest quality, fitting her status and responsibilities as Vice President.
Sarpong concluded his post by urging the Vice President to take swift action, emphasizing that someone with Pratt’s perceived lack of skills should not be in charge of press releases.
