The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has bemoaned the “economic mismanagement” that characterized the tenure of the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

He opined that the mismanagement of the economy is the reason behind former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta’s perceived failure to avail himself of investigations by the Office of Special Prosecutor.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV on X, he said the previous government was corrupt.

“I have given you facts and figures. They came into government to waste everybody’s time and squander precious resources. They were incalculably corrupt and were operating slash funds that they could not account for. Today, the former finance minister is being looked for all over the world, isn’t he? He is even unable to submit himself to scrutiny,” he said.

Kwakye Ofosu noted however that his government does not intend to waste the taxpayer’s money by indulging in frivolous expenditure.

According to him, allocations have been made to critical areas of the economy to aid growth in the various sectors.

He said: “Hon Ato Forson was in parliament last week, to reveal that the tax refund account became a slash account for them, that is what they were using to promote all the dubious things they were doing.

“We are not inclined to engage in that kind of expenditure. So he has said that instead of using it as a slash fund, which is using it to pay political operatives, he’s going to put that into financing critical government expenditure, in the areas of health, education, agriculture and what have you,” he concluded.
