File photo of a worried woman
Dear GhanaWeb,
My husband and I have been married for five years.
He has been living in the house we currently stay in since I met him. After we got married, I suggested we move out, but he insisted we stay.
Since we’ve been together, he never mentioned anything about paying rent, which made me curious.
Anytime I asked if he paid rent, he would tell me that he does but just doesn’t like to bother me with it.
Knowing his income, I’ve always had doubts about this. The landlady has a very close relationship with my husband, calling him “son” and other affectionate terms, so I never thought much of it when he went to her room.
Occasionally, she would call him into her room to do things for her, and since their relationship appeared to be like that of a mother and son, I didn’t think anything of it.
However, recently, I started noticing that my husband always showers when he returns from her room.
He also doesn’t make love to me, no matter how much I beg, which led me to start observing him more closely.
One day, I heard from my landlady’s window that they were making love.
I could actually hear the woman moan and I heard them use sexual languages.
I wasn’t very sure, then I decided to deliberately walk in on them to see things for myself.
I opened the door to their room, and to my shock, my 35-year-old husband was in bed with a woman who is old enough to be his mother.
She is in her 60s. I was about to scream, but they quickly stopped me.
It turns out that my husband has been sleeping with her in exchange for paying rent, and they’ve been doing this even before we got married.
I don’t know how it started, but the woman has now told me that if I forgive my husband and don’t make an issue out of it, she will let us stay in the house for as long as we want.
She assured me that she would never do anything with my husband again.
I’m incredibly hurt and disappointed in my husband. What I saw was disgusting, and I’m struggling to move past it.
I can’t stand him now, and I can’t even imagine him touching me ever again. The silence is suffocating me, and I don’t know what to do next. Please, what should I do now?
