Media analyst Nana Frimpong Ziga has criticised Miracle Adoma, the wife of journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, for her remarks during his recent press conference. According to him, while the event was necessary to express gratitude to those who supported Kofi Adoma Nwanwani and express disappointment to those who were supposed to support but did not after his shooting incident, his wife’s emotional outburst was unnecessary and ended up shifting public focus away from her husband’s main reason of organising the conference.
Speaking on UnitedShowbiz on UTV, Nana Frimpong Ziga acknowledged that Kofi Adoma was suffering both physically and emotionally, struggling with the trauma of his near-disability. He said the physical pain from the shooting, which makes Kofi Adoma suffers persistent headaches after speaking few minutes, and the emotional pain, which comes from feeling that he was not going to be the same again, was the reason for the press conference.
He explained that the press conference was an opportunity for him to appreciate key individuals like Ibrahim Mahama and Passion Air for their assistance. However, Miracle Adoma’s strong words against Dormaahene and others, he argued, were unwarranted and diverted attention from the journalist’s ordeal.
“Everyone wanted to be appreciated when they offer support. However, the wife’s outburst was unnecessary. All the words she uses against Dormaahene and others were not needed. The focus was on Kofi Adoma, not her, so her words took away some of the sympathy we had for Kofi Adoma” he stated.
He further noted that after her comments, social media discourse quickly moved away from Kofi Adoma’s suffering to debates about his wife’s statement, an unfortunate distraction from the real issue.
