Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has dismissed concerns over Thomas Partey losing the Black Stars captaincy, emphasizing that the midfielder remains fully committed to the team’s success.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Asante Twum stated, “It’s not a problem for Thomas Partey that he’s no longer the Black Stars captain. It’s not about individual aspirations.”
Partey, who previously served as vice-captain under Andre Ayew, retains the same role under new captain Jordan Ayew.
The Arsenal midfielder is expected to play a key role as Ghana prepares for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before facing Madagascar in Morocco on Monday, March 24.
Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points, level with group leaders Comoros.
