The host of Johnnie’s Bite on TV3 and 3FM, Johnnie Hughes, has been vindicated following President John Dramani Mahama’s recent decision to dismiss the former Director-Generals of the Ghana Prisons Service and the Ghana National Fire Service.

Speaking on TV3 on Monday, March 17, 2025, Johnnie Hughes stated that for the past few months, he had been calling on the government to dismiss all public sector officials who have reached the retirement age of 60 but are still holding on to their positions.

His argument was that retaining retirees in these roles prevents equally qualified individuals from being promoted.

Johnnie Hughes has been vindicated because many people initially criticized him, arguing that retirees should be allowed to remain in office. However, when news broke that the President had appointed new heads for the Ghana Prisons Service and the Ghana National Fire Service, it became evident that the President had taken his concerns into account.
