Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, a former Ghana international has disclosed that although Andre Ayew has not had a national team call up in recent times, he is not disappointed.

Coach Otto Addo decided to rule Andre out of selection on several occasions in his second spell in charge of the Black Stars.

The Le Havre forward last played for his national team in March last year, featuring in international friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda.

However, Andre was initially dropped from the Black Stars squad for the June 2024 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The former Marseille star has not played for Ghana since, following Otto Addo’s refusal to consider him for selection.

However, according to Agyemang-Badu the 35-year-old is not perturbed and he is more focused on his club football.

“We all know that the criteria for selecting players into the Black Stars is performance. Andre Ayew is performing but if the coach [Otto Addo] has made a decision, we need to respect it.

“I have spoken to Andre Ayew, and he is not worried,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars formally opened camp today in Accra and will train at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Antoine Semenyo, Thomas Partey, Jojo Wollacott, Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana have all landed in camp.

The Black Stars will host Chad at Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, and then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on 24th March 2025. The Barea will host Black Stars in Morocco after their home grounds were deemed unsuitable to stage international matches.
