Prominent Ghanaian broadcaster Kofi Adoma Nwanwani has voiced his dissatisfaction with Vincent Opare, CEO of Angel Broadcasting Network, for the lack of genuine support following the traumatic shooting incident he survived in Dormaa, which severely affected his eye.
In a heartfelt account, Kofi revealed the psychological toll the incident has had on him, including recurring nightmares and difficulty sleeping. He mentioned that when he asked whether Dormaahene had responded to the incident, he was told the chief planned to visit only after the festival. “I was close to death,” Kofi emotionally recalled.
He went on to criticize Vincent Opare for placing the company’s brand above his life, condemning him for making public statements about helping him financially without acknowledging the seriousness of his injuries and the massive cost of treatment. “He went on air to talk about what the company has done for me. That hurt. Clearly, the brand is more important than me. You don’t care what I’m going through,” Kofi said.
Kofi expressed gratitude toward business magnate Dr. Kwaku Oteng, who provided financial support with no conditions or questions about medical documentation. As expenses mounted, they sought additional help. After Nana Yaa Brefo saw his condition firsthand, she contacted Ibrahim Mahama. Mahama, deeply concerned, said he would’ve arranged a private jet to fly Kofi to Accra had he known earlier and promptly requested his bank details to offer financial help.
Despite his dire situation, Kofi shared that Vincent Opare continued to tell people he had been taken care of, even while Kofi was still out seeking help to pay his medical bills.
