The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale has defended the Agency’s move to secure private security jobs for the youth.

In a post shared on his X page on Monday, March 17, 2025, he dismissed criticisms from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), noting that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government still owes trainees of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO).

“Last week, NPP dudes were busy criticising YEA for securing 6,000 private security jobs for some interested youth with a well bargained new terms of salary ranging from GH¢1,000 – GH¢2,500 depending on your assigned workstation.

“They have soon forgotten that few years ago, Bawumia organised a whole funfair and jamboree just because they brought an ‘Azaa’ policy called NABCO that was to pay GRADUATES just GH¢700. Till date, they still owe NABCO Trainees,” he stated.

Malik Basintale has clarified that all recruitment processes for job placements are handled strictly by private companies and cautioned job seekers against making any payments in the recruitment process.

NABCO was introduced by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government to address graduate unemployment, however, its implementation was fraught with financial challenges.
