ACFO1 Prince Billy Anaglate, the Oti Regional Fire Service Commander, has appealed to the government and philanthropic organisations to provide a speed boat and essential logistics to boost safety along the Dambai River.

The urgent request comes amid growing concern over the increasing number of incidents on the river, which pose significant risks to residents and visitors.

The Dambai River, a vital transportation and recreational waterway, has witnessed a surge in accidents.

The absence of a dedicated speed boat for the fire service has resulted in delayed response times, putting lives at risk.

ACFO1 Anaglate emphasised that they could enhance operational capabilities, improve safety, and prevent incidents with the right resources.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the speed boat would enable the fire service to respond swiftly to emergencies, conduct regular patrols, and perform safety checks along the river.

Acquiring a speedboat would also facilitate fire officers’ engagement with local communities, raising awareness about fire safety, prevention, and regulations.

ACFO1 Anaglae expressed hope that with government and NGO support, the initiative would become a reality, saving lives and creating a safer environment.
