Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for failing to attend the mandatory post-match press conference after his team’s 1-0 defeat to Dreams FC on Saturday.
The Phobians were unable to bounce back from an early goal scored by Abdul Razak, leading to their first league loss in seven matches.
Before this setback, Hearts of Oak had maintained an impressive unbeaten run in the 2025 Ghana Premier League, with five wins and two draws.
This latest defeat also marked their first league loss since they were beaten by arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash back in December 2024.
Following the loss, the GFA charged coach Ouattara for allegedly skipping the post-match media engagement, which is considered a mandatory protocol.
The football governing body reportedly views his actions as intentional and damaging to the integrity of the game.
The coach has been given a deadline until Tuesday, March 18, to officially respond to the charges.
Interestingly, Ouattara’s charges come just a week after Hearts of Oak, as a club, faced disciplinary action for violating safety protocols in the league.
This latest controversy adds to the challenges the club is facing this season.
Despite the defeat, Hearts of Oak remain in third place on the league table with 36 points, trailing leaders Kotoko by just two points.
The club will now look to regroup and return to winning ways as they aim to reclaim the top spot in the Ghana Premier League.
