Nsoatreman FC has been officially dissolved, with all players asked to leave, following intense criticism and backlash after the tragic death of an Asante Kotoko supporter earlier this season.
The club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Gyempeh Kofi Joel, confirmed the decision, citing the relentless attacks on the club as the primary reason for its dissolution.
“The criticism and the insults are too much, so the team has been dissolved, and players have been told to go home,” Gyempeh told Sporty FM.
He linked the decision to the fallout from the February 2 incident during Nsoatreman’s home match against Asante Kotoko, which resulted in the tragic death of a Kotoko fan, known as Pooley.
“What happened in our game against Asante Kotoko, leading to the untimely death of Pooley, is what has really brought about this decision,” he explained.
According to the club official, despite police investigations identifying a suspect, Brimah, as the alleged perpetrator, public outrage has continued to mount against Nsoatreman FC.
“It’s like after the death, people started pointing fingers and attacking the club, claiming the club was responsible, even though police investigations have confirmed that a certain Brimah is the killer of the late Pooley,” he added.
The decision to dissolve Nsoatreman FC marks a dramatic end to the club’s participation in Ghanaian football, coming just a season after their FA Cup triumph.
