The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) has sworn in a new Executive Council to provide practical solutions to the industry’s challenges and make housing more affordable.

The nine-member council, led by Dr. James Ato Orleans-Lindsay as President, will serve a four-year term.

Other executives include Dr. Stephen Debrah-Ablorneti as First Vice President, Bright Adom as Second Vice President, Salah Kweku Kalmoni as Executive Secretary, and Harry Quartey as Treasurer.

The remaining council members are Philip Korletey, Sitsofe Akpebu, Frank Agyare, and Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III.

The swearing-in ceremony took place during the annual CEO’s Breakfast Meeting, themed: “Building the Future: Strengthening Leadership Drive for Sustainable Growth in the Real Estate Industry.”

The Minister of Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei who served as the special guest of honor, urged GREDA to provide practical solutions by leveraging alternative building technologies, reducing the cost of building materials, and exploring financing models to help middle-income earners acquire affordable homes.

“Additionally, GREDA must explore new investment models such as Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and rent-to-own schemes to make home ownership more accessible,” he stated.

He also encouraged members of the Association to collaborate with the government in enforcing the Real Estate Agency Act, 2020, to promote integrity and efficiency in the sector.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay, the newly elected GREDA President, pledged to drive an aggressive membership campaign, strengthen advocacy, promote research and innovation, establish a housing development fund for members, construct a GREDA headquarters, and institutionalize an annual developers’ forum.

He also expressed his desire to expand the association’s membership, recognizing the broad scope of the real estate industry.

“It is my intention to incorporate all businesses, organizations, institutions, and professionals who play pivotal roles in the real estate sector,” he said.

The former GREDA President, Patrick Ebo Banful, emphasised the need for leadership in the real estate industry to evolve, fostering sustainable growth and development.

He also urged industry players to prioritize sustainability and integrate it into their business strategies.
