President John Dramani Mahama has tasked Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, with swiftly addressing bribery and abuse of power within the police service to promote transparency and accountability in law enforcement.

He reaffirmed that integrity within the police force is essential for upholding the rule of law and maintaining national security.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Christian Tetteh Yohuno as Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Jubilee House in Accra on March 14, 2025 President Mahama emphasised the detrimental impact of corruption on justice and public trust.

“It is imperative that officers at all ranks are held to the highest ethical standards, and any form of malpractice, from bribery to abuse of power, must be swiftly and decisively addressed,” he asserted.

He noted that corruption within the police force erodes public confidence and undermines the credibility of the justice system.

“Mr. IGP, your duty extends beyond maintaining law and order; it also involves eliminating corruption from the service,” he stated.

President Mahama urged all officers to uphold the highest ethical standards in carrying out their duties and expressed absolute confidence in IGP Yohuno’s ability to lead the Ghana Police Service in restoring public trust and respect.
