Ghanaian actress, Joselyn Dumas
There has been recent confusion surrounding Joselyn Dumas’ alleged appointment as the Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs.
After the president appointed several Ghanaian celebrities to top positions in the creative arts sector, Joselyn Dumas was reported to have been included in the list and has since received numerous congratulations.
Other celebrities like Kafui Danku, James Gardiner, Abeiku Santana, KOD, John Dumelo, and many others were honoured with positions in the film authority, tourism sector, and many others.
Shortly after, media reports claimed that Joselyn had been appointed.
However, while some people dismissed the reports, Joselyn neither confirmed nor denied the claims.
Bridget Otoo subsequently took to social media, alleging that Joselyn Dumas’ appointment was fake.
At that time, some netizens even speculated that Bridget’s comments were fuelled by jealousy, as she did not receive an appointment herself.
Joselyn Dumas’ appointment sparked confusion within the creative space, with some Kumawood actors questioning why English-speaking actors were receiving positions while they, having worked harder, had not been recognised.
But in response to these growing discussions, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, has clarified the situation.
Speaking to Fact-Check Ghana about Joselyn Dumas’ appointment, he firmly stated, “No such appointment has been made.”
According to Fact-Check Ghana, prior to their discussion with the minister, efforts to reach Joselyn Dumas for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls and messages via text and WhatsApp were unanswered.
