Over 632 members of the Kejetia Petty Traders Association have made a passionate appeal to the government, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Ashanti Regional Minister to ensure they are allocated stores in the second phase of the Kejetia Market project.

The traders, who were original occupants of the old Kejetia Market, have been forced to conduct their businesses on the streets under harsh weather conditions despite making financial contributions to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

The chairman and founder of the association, Mr. Emmanuel Kwarteng, expressed the frustrations of members, stating that they have suffered significant losses since being displaced from the market.

The traders urged the government and city authorities to prioritize transparency and fairness in the distribution of the new stores, emphasizing their long wait for a permanent place to conduct their businesses.

The second phase of the Kumasi Kejetia/Central Market redevelopment project aims to provide additional modern trading spaces to accommodate displaced traders and improve the overall business environment in the city.

However, concerns about fair allocation have emerged, with several trader groups pushing for inclusion in the process.
