He oversees various aspects of the sports sector, including the maintenance of stadiums and the revival of lesser-known sports that receive little attention.

Ampofo Ankrah furthered his education at Birkbeck University, earning a degree in Humanities and Media.

He attended the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) to hone his communication skills. He holds multiple diplomas and certificates in media, sports marketing, branding, and communications.

Beach Soccer

Ampofo Ankrah is the founder and first President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, providing expert insight into the social and economic benefits of investing in the sport.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) appointed him as the Chairman of the Beach Soccer Committee, which is responsible for managing both the Beach Soccer League and the national team.

Voice over artist

As a household name and voiceover artist, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has promoted numerous sports brands, including the Ghana Premier Football League, the Ghana Black Stars Diary, Ghana Beach Soccer, Pro Boxing League, Books & Boots Soccer, English Premier League, and European Champions telecast in Ghana, plus other sports-related media properties.

Media

Ampofo Ankrah’s media career path had already seen him excel as a presenter/writer at Choice FM, Joy FM, TV3, and Metro TV. He gained early recognition for his excellent writing skills as a columnist for the Kotoko Express and was later employed by other top media outlets in Ghana, including Global Media Alliance, owners of the YFM, Happy FM and eTV media brands.

He is currently the Head of Sports at iMax Media Group, where he anchors the live broadcast of the Ghana Premier League on StarTimes and Max TV.

Awards

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has received several awards for his contributions to the field of sports journalism, including the People’s Choice Awards, National Students Awards, and several Best Sports Journalist citations.

In June 2023, he received the Tecno Legends Awards.

On January 12, 2024, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah was decorated and honored for his exceptional work over the years with the President’s Award by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
