Broadcast journalist Afia Pokuaa widely known as Vim Lady says she likes the excitement which has greeted the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, presented the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.

This marks the first comprehensive financial roadmap introduced by the Mahama administration since taking office.

The highly anticipated budget includes significant policy measures aimed at stabilizing the economy, promoting growth, and addressing ongoing fiscal challenges.

Among the key announcements was the cancellation of several levies, including the Emissions Tax.

Dr Drorson also outlined plans to review the Value Added Tax (VAT) system, which will eventually lead to the abolition of the COVID-19 levy, though no specific timeline was provided.

The Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the new administration has been welcomed by the majority of Ghanaians. People have praised President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling some of his campaign promises, including the scrapping of some nuisance taxes.

Reacting to the Budget Statement, Afia Pokuaa said she likes the excitement of the people of Ghana towards the Budget Statement.

However, she said that it was the same excitement that greeted the 2017 Budget Statement when then-president Nana Akufo Addo reduced the port duty.

In a Facebook post, she wrote, “Love the excitement about the 2025 budget. It was the same when port duty was reduced small in 2017.

Her comments demonstrate the need for Ghanaians to be cautiously optimistic about the 2025 Budget Statement.
