Following the presentation of the 2025 budget, a health care administrator in human capital development and Member of Parliament for Mfantseman constituency, Hon. Dr. Prince Arhin has stated that the government’s decision to uncap the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) levy will significantly enhance Ghana’s healthcare sector.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb after the budget presentation on March 11, 2025, Arhin explained that the move will ensure adequate funding for the NHIS, allowing healthcare facilities to improve service delivery and expand coverage.

“The uncapping of the NHIS levy means more resources will be available to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, procure essential medical supplies, and settle outstanding claims owed to service providers,” he noted.

The Mfantseman MP further emphasised that removing the cap would help address long-standing financial challenges in the health sector, ensuring that more Ghanaians have access to quality and affordable healthcare.

He also assured Ghanaians of President Mahama’s unwavering commitment to delivering on key promises and initiatives to improve the lives of citizens.

The 2025 budget, presented by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, included key reforms aimed at improving public services, with healthcare financing among the government’s priorities.
