President John Dramani Mahama is set to meet with various Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Ghana’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in a landmark engagement aimed at realigning and enhancing the efficiency of these institutions.
The high-level meeting, organised by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), will take place on March 13, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
In a statement issued by SIGA and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, it noted that the engagement is expected to bring together senior government officials, ministers of state, and representatives from the World Bank in Ghana, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving governance and accountability in state-owned enterprises.
Additionally, a key feature of the engagement will be the launch of a comprehensive deep dive study examining 16 major SOEs that oversee a significant portion of the country’s state assets.
According to SIGA, the study aims to assess the current state of these enterprises, identify challenges, and provide data-driven insights to guide reforms and ensure improved performance.
The findings are expected to shape government policy and enhance the strategic direction of SOEs to contribute more effectively to national development.
Director-General of SIGA, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte on his part described the meeting as a significant step toward strengthening corporate governance and fostering transparency.
“We are excited to facilitate this important engagement between the President and CEOs of SOEs. This marks a new era of cooperation that will enhance accountability and contribute to Ghana’s economic transformation,” he stated.
The discussions are expected to set the stage for reforms that will enhance the productivity and financial viability of state enterprises.
Meanwhile, SIGA has encouraged all Ghanaians to follow the proceedings and stay engaged in the country’s economic development initiatives.
